Chinese professor researching corona virus killed in US
A Chinese professor researching the corona virus at the
University of Pittsburgh in the United States has been killed.
The university says the slain professor was close to
critical findings in his research on the corona virus.
Police say Assistant Professor Bing Liu was found dead in
his home with bullet marks on his head and throat.
Police say another man was found dead in a car near
Professor Liu's home and that the same man allegedly committed suicide in his
car after killing Professor Liu at their home.
Police believe the two men knew each other, but there is
no evidence that Professor Liu was killed because he was a Chinese citizen.
The University of Pittsburgh said in a statement that it
was "deeply saddened" by the death of Professor Liu.
Professor Liu's colleagues at the university say that
Professor Lou Corona was doing very important research on the virus SARS CoV2
and that he had come to very important conclusions about it.
