Due to the negative impact of the corona virus on the global
economy and production, it is feared that 50 million people in West African
countries may go on hunger strike.

A joint statement from the UK-based Child Protection
and eight global social organizations warned that Corona could cause starvation
and malnutrition in between 17 million and 50 million people in West African
countries may be affected.
The statement added that food security is urgently needed at
this time, otherwise the situation of starvation could continue, while efforts
to boost the agricultural sector in West African countries would have to be
intensified.
